After 25 years with the Park Ridge police department, Scott Laughton wanted a new career. He earned a nursing degree from Bergen Community College, allowing him to continue helping people.
Today he is on the frontline of the coronavirus pandemic at Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck, NJ, one of the areas hardest hit in the state.
Bergen’s nursing program includes simulation labs where emergencies and unexpected challenges are part of the training. In addition, as a veteran of Desert Storm and numerous crises as a member of the police department, he feels prepared for the front lines, “able to be a calm head in a chaotic environment.”
