Helping Students Succeed
You can expand access to guidance and tutoring programs, as well as need-based and merit-based scholarships.
Many students need help to stay on track. Bergen is committed to providing top academic support programs and access to financial aid. But the demand is greater than the college can provide through regular funding.
How you can help:
Academic Tutoring
Support Bergen’s nationally-recognized Cerullo Learning Center, providing peer tutoring, faculty help, small study groups, and other solutions for students needing assistance with their work. Last year alone, more than 70% of our students needed this resource, making more than 56,000 visits, and straining the college’s ability to provide it. Your gift will ensure that this resource continues to be available to keep students on track for academic excellence.
Guidance and Mentoring
Support students struggling with personal challenges or family situations that can derail their education. Sometimes all that is needed is some guidance or mentoring. Our faculty and staff provide compassion, advice, and direction to help keep them on track. You can join other donors in making it possible for the college to offer this critical support to students in need.
Need-based and merit-based scholarships
Help students to stay in school. Scholarship support eases the financial challenges many face balancing school with work and family demands, helping them to stay in school, achieve their degree, and move their lives forward.

Driving Program Excellence
You can support innovative programs, and accelerate upgrades to equipment and facilities.
Bergen is renowned for the strength of its academic programs. Employers line up to host our students in internships, and our graduates move quickly into jobs and careers. Students who transfer to four-year colleges carry all of their credits with tem, based on the strengths of Bergen’s programs.
But we need private support for our programs to keep pace with the rapid evolution of technology and employer expectations. Your generosity can help Bergen Community College to seed innovative new programs, anticipate new directions, and accelerate upgrades to equipment and facilities.
Jobs in the 21st Century require specialized knowledge, skills and training:
- Hospitals and the healthcare industry need nurses and medical technicians familiar with increasingly complex equipment and procedures.
- The scientific community needs innovative thinkers with problem-solving experience in science, technology, engineering and math.
- Businesses need employees prepared to step into immediate roles, comfortable with their skills, and ready to help grow opportunities.
Your support is critical to helping us keep pace with these challenges and to meet these needs.

Building Community
You can impact campus improvements to shape student experience and engage the community.
A new state-of-the-art facility for our culinary arts program. Classrooms at the Meadowlands near the new American Dream mall so students can balance school with nearby jobs. A re-imagined quad at the Paramus camps as a center of student activity.
Bergen Community College includes three separate campuses in key locations of Bergen County: the main campus in Paramus; the Philip Ciarco Jr. Learning Center in Hackensack, and at the Meadowlands in Lyndhurst.
The college seeks to strengthen these environments in which students and faculty work, and to encourage their use as resources by the communities we serve.
- Help us to shape spaces outside the classroom for collaborative learning and informal gathering.
- Support public art and walking paths.
Help to open our facilities as a resource for the people and businesses of Bergen County.
